Tastebook- Karina's Kitchen Recipe Collection

Karina's Kitchen- Gluten-Free Recipes Tastebook

I am excited- and pleased- to announce that I have just produced three Tastebook cookbooks:

Karina's Kitchen - 100 favorite recipes from my kitchen to yours

Karina's Vegetarian Table - A collection of vegetarian favorites from Karina's Kitchen

Karina's Vegan Table - A collection of vegan favorites from Karina's Kitchen

What is Tastebook?

As soon as I heard about Tastebook I was intrigued. iTunes for recipes? Count me in. For those of you new to Tastebook here's the scoop. Tastebook is an on-line publishing platform that lets you create beautiful, hardcover cookbooks (perfect for food bloggers and handy for cooks who find their culinary inspiration online).

With the holidays fast approaching- and with it the gift-giving season- I decided to create a recipe collection for gluten-free families, entitled Karina's Kitchen- for every family who cooks gluten-free, by necessity or by love.

For my omnivorous readers- I've chosen 100 recipes for the Karina's Kitchen Tastebook- my personal favorites- and the most popular recipes here on Karina's Kitchen. From Flourless Chocolate Cake to Buckwheat Chocolate Chip Cookies, from Kicked Up Mac & Cheese (and the dairy-free vegan version, too) to my Sweet Potato Rancher's Pie there are recipes in all categories including appetizers, soups, salads, chicken and beef dishes, seafood, brunch and muffins, cakes, cookies and brownies. I also include specific tips for substituting problematic ingredients- such as eggs and dairy. Almost all recipes featuring chicken or beef include a vegetarian option.

For my vegetarian readers Karina's Vegetarian Table features over 85 personal favorites- all ovo-lacto vegetarian recipes.

For vegans I have collected 50 vegan recipes from Kitchen Kitchen- some of the most popular recipes on the blog- and every one is- you guessed it- a gluten-free vegan favorite. Check out Karina's Vegan Table here.

In order to add or subtract recipes and edit a Tastebook you'll need to join Tastebook (it's free). You can then import my recipes into your Tastebook (search with the term "gluten-free" and mine will come up); this allows you the ability to mix and match with thousands of other recipes on Tastebook, and import your own personal favorites. Like iTunes. For recipes.

I love the dynamic nature of this project. It's a living cookbook that can be added to and updated, reflecting the spirit of my blog and its interactive nature.

Here is the cookbook's dedication:

This gluten-free recipe book is dedicated to the kind and generous readers of Karina's Kitchen blog- Recipes from a gluten-free goddess. Without your lively feedback and support I would be just another cook wrestling with xanthan gum in her humble kitchen.

So that's what I've been up to, behind the scenes. I hope you enjoy it!

Oh how wonderful! I've got so many print-outs of your recipes, all ear tagged and messy. This sounds like a great way for your to publish!

What a great idea and like you said, just in time for gift giving! I thoroughly enjoyed "thumbing" through your recipe collection. Those truly are some of my G-F Goddess favorites.
Congratulations, Karina!

The book is just gorgeous! What a great idea for people to give as Christmas gifts to someone who's gluten-free.

I am so excited! I can't wait to surprise my sister (the gluten free chef in our family) with this great recipe book! Thank you!

I just came across your site thru Google. My toddler daughter had been in the ER many times w/ "mysterious" food allergies, and we finally got a pediatrician & allergist & insurance company to agree to test her. We now know for certain she's allergic to dairy, wheat, and oats. We've just had her tested for Celiac Disease, and we're awaiting the results. I'm not a great cook, and now we're looking at changing our household's eating to include our daughter's needs, and your recipes look yummy and actually possible for me to prepare! I'm going to search your site for a cake recipe for her 2nd bday! Thanks for sharing your gift with others!

what a great concept! i'm totally adding this to my christmas list! hey Karina, i was going to ask you if you have a recipe for rolls anywhere? i haven't found one on your site, but the holidays are fast approaching, and i would love a fool-proof recipe (as yours always are)! btw, my dh LOVES your sweet potato cornbread (says it's better than the kind his mom used to make!).

Thank you for your hard work. I have discovered I can't tolerate eggs as well as gluten, and it is so incredibly difficult to find baking recipes that work without eggs. My attempts at substituting egg replacer, flax, oil, baking powder, etc in many combinations has been frustrating, although occasionally somewhat successful. I am so very grateful that you have created delicious recipes that I can use without hassles. I am off to buy your book now!

Yippee!!! I am getting it asap so I can start testing recipes for dad!! He is always worried about having a separate diet and I tell him that we are a family, there is no reason to adjust for something we can do without easily. I also add it bites for a French man to be allergic to regular baguettes!!

You'll always have a fan in me!

Congratulations Karina! This is fantastic.

This is so cool. What a great idea. I can't wait to order your cookbook and I can't wait to make one of my own. I've got to share this with others!

Hi Karina. I'm thrilled at the idea of having a cookbook of your recipes. But I'm a little confused about how I would add my own favorites. For example, my son's favorite is the Vegan Vanilla Brownie. It is not in the book and I couldn't find a way to add it. I also noticed that when you originally posted the information on this book, there were 90 pages with 10 credits. Now there are 92 pages with 8 credits. Does this mean that I have less credits available to select my own recipes? Can I remove the existing ones and print only my favorites? Then add to it as you come up with more tasty ideas? I did play the TasteBook videos, I just don't see how to make things work with your book.

Thanks so much--- Cheryl, MJennings, Gyspy Lee, Helene, Kristina, Melissa, Karen, Kalyn, Brwn8grl, Jessica, Christina! xox

Steph- Rolls? I don't, per se. I need to experiment. Thanks for the reminder!

Jennifer K- It's tough- I know. I'm finding it easier now- hope you are, too...

Helen- Aw. Muchas gracias- or should I say, Merci!

Thanks, Claire! And Diane!

Suzanne- I edited my post to try and explain it better. You can buy my Tastebook as is- as you would any cookbook- or join Tastebook (it's free) and then create one, or start with mine, and add your own recipes, etc.

Thanks everyone- you're the BEST!

I'm normally computer savvy but I'm having problems making Tastebook work for me. I want a Tastebook of your recipes but ones that I choose, not the ones you have already selected. I'm not interested in recipes from other sites. I read you updated post and joined Tastebook. But when I search for your recipes using "gluten-free", I only get recipes from "top sites". Yours is not listed. Your post used the term "import" but Tastebook's import gets recipes from Epicurious.com. I tried the "shop" option to get existing Tastebooks but couldn't find yours that way either. I feel like a dope, but I just can't seem to bring your recipes into a customized Tastebook.

Suzanne- Hmmm. I can find my recipes by searching "gluten-free" in the top search bar. Oh- but I am a member.

Have you joined yet? (It's free.)

In order to put together a custom Tastebook you need to join; sign in; start creating a Tastebook; search for "gluten-free" recipes; mine will come up with all the others using that label; then add my recipes into your Tastebook (I use drag and drop).

Hopefully that's the glitch. I'm not having a problem from my end (but I am signed in).

Good luck!

Karina

By jove, I think I've got it!

When I created an account, it brought me to a "generic" Tastebook and wouldn't show me anything from your site. I logged out and went back to your book. I then tried to personalize your book and it asked me to log in. I am now able to add/delete recipes just like I wanted.

By the way, the link to your 100 page book at the top of this page does not go to your book - it goes to the generic Tastebook page (which was part of my problem). The links to the vegetarian/vegan books are fine. The link titled "Preview Karina's Kitchen Tastebooks at the Tastebook site." works and saved the day :)

Thanks for responding so quickly!

Well, I deleted recipes with no problem but ran into a problem when adding. I couldn't find the recipes on this site. It turns out that the search criteria defaults to every site EXCEPT for "Tastebook Users". When I selected that as a search source and then typed in "gluten-free" - voila! All of your site's recipes were listed. Whoo hoo! Life is good. Thanks for making this all possible.
