Karina, I think I remember you writing something about looking for a dairy-free, egg-free mayo recipe (unless I'm remembering the wrong allergens!). Did you see this one on the Clan Thompson newsletter?
Egg-free Mayonnaise
2 Tbsp. egg replacer (packed)
4 Tbsp. water
1 cup olive oil
1 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. lemon juice (fresh is best)
2 tsp. dry mustard
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. paprika
Whip egg replacer and water until peaks form. Add oil, 1 teaspoon at a time, whipping well. Add remaining ingredients in the order given. Cover and refrigerate. Yield: 1 1/2 cups.

Just reading this list makes me smile. Someday soon I'm going to sit down with a glass of Riesling and leave a comment on every recipe of yours that we've enjoyed...there are many. Our very favorite is the African Bean and Sweet Potato Soup. We have renamed it "swoon soup" since that's what we do when we eat it.

Hi Karina; I have many of the same allergies as you do, but I'm now also allergic to all citrus and all vinegar. Do you have any ideas what I could substitute for these ingredients in cooking. Salad dressing and mayo are problematic. i wondered if Ias toteep rhubarb in water, but not sweeten it, if that could replace the tart acidic taste of the missing ingredients?
Hi Judie- So sorry to hear that. For salad dressing how about a splash of plain cranberry juice or apple juice?
Pomegranate juice might also be a choice- I use it in tomato sauces, broths and stew for an acidic touch.
For mayo- how about adding wasabi powder to kick up and cut the olive oil? Can you do mustard?
Ginger and horseradish might also be flavor punch alternatives.
Add extra fresh herbs, too- like parsley and mint- they add flavor. Can you do kiwi fruit or kumquats- both citrusy.
Fresh chopped cilantro tastes very citrus-orange to me.
Also- what about caraway- it taste's like orange to me, as well.
Other juices like apricot or white grape juice?
